Week In The Life 2018

Last week, I participated in Week In the Life, started by Ali Edwards.  I have completed this project every year since 2013, and I love to look back at my albums at how much my "normal" has changed.

This year, I wanted to be an observer of my life.  Instead of telling "all of the stories" I wanted to concentrate on telling one story for each day.  I thought this would be appropriate since I have chosen to use a 3x8 album to document my week.

Here are my photos + words from last week.

Azzari Jarrett | Week In The Life

MONDAY |  After getting my girls up and dressed and off to school, I have my second cup of coffee while I water all of plants in our home. I absolutely love black and white stripes, bonus points for a midi dress.

TUESDAY | Overcast this morning and I didn’t feel the best, but there’s very little I let get in the way of my morning run. I never regret going. I always regret when I don’t. 3 miles this morning, while I made a mental list of everything I need to accomplish today. Food for my soul.

WEDNESDAY | My youngest daughter has an extra hour of school on Wednesday’s. I spend the majority of my day in my studio - emails, working on new designs, layouts, photography projects and prints.

THURSDAY | Sometimes it is so hard for me to say yes. When she wants to stop at our local Arboretum and visit the koi pond and Japanese tea house, I thought about everything else I had to do today. I realized all those things would still be there tomorrow. I said yes, and I’m so glad that I did.

FRIDAY | Ending the school week with an evening at the beach. I cherish the simple joys, the experiences, and not “the things” in my life. And I’m so happy that my girls have each other. I always wanted a sister growing up. Instead, I am blessed to be a mother of 3 sisters. And if they still get along as adults, I will consider my job done

SATURDAY | Saturday was a blur of being on the road, running weekend errands. I did appreciate all of the love I received from my family today. I think every weekend should include Mother's Day.

SUNDAY | Starting Mother’s Day early this morning with paddle boarding while the sun rises. Looking forward to a relaxed day surrounded by my husband and daughters.

All photos taken with my iPhone and edited with VSCO.

I'm looking forward to bringing these photos and words together in a 3x8 album, which I will share soon!

Project Life 2018 - March Layouts

I recently returned from a girls trip in Scottsdale, Arizona. We enjoyed a spa weekend, staying up late and catching up, and simply relaxing by the pool - which is always a treat! I couldn't wait to return home and document our adventures.

Project Life | 6x8 Layout | Azzari Jarrett

No hard and fast rules this year around documenting. I'm not keeping track of the weeks or dates, just simply documenting all things that I'd like to remember.  You can read a little more about my plans for this year here.

I'm using a 6x8 album, with various page protectors. One of my goals this year is to create most of journal cards, or use what I have in my stash. I created the "Scottsdale" illustration of our trip on the plane home using Procreate, my iPad Pro and Pencil - just doodling and loving it! And the "ok ladies now let's get in formation" is available as a digital download in my etsy shop, which I resized to 3x4 inches.

Azzari Jarrett 2018 Project Life Title Page

2018 marks my 5th year documenting with Project Life. I can't believe that I have enjoyed this creative outlet for this long!

I'm changing a few things this year in order to keep the project fresh for me.  I am switching to a smaller format - a 6x8 inch album and I plan on using most of my own designs for journal cards. Don't get wrong, I will definitely use others from my stash, but this year, I want to stretch myself creatively.

Starting this year with a simple and minimal approach with these 2018 journal cards.  I initially designed them last year for my 2017 album title page, and I loved them so much that I've updated them to 2018 for this year's album.

I though that I would share, if you'd like to use them for your own album! You can find them here.

Please do let me know if you decide to include them in your documenting!

Here are my previous title pages: 2017, 2016, and 2015.

Looking forward to sharing more layouts (and designs) this year.

Up Story Theme

As most of you know, creativity ebbs and flows. There is a time for creating, a time for reflecting, a time for quiet and reflection, and there's also finding time to actually share what you have created.

Azzari Jarrett | Open Story Theme

I completed this layout almost a year ago. Took these photos of my layout almost a year ago. And it is only now that I am getting around to actually sharing it. Sometimes I have put work aside for a while and come back to it. And I'm totally fine with that.

That being said, I love working on story theme layouts using Ali Edwards's story kits. This story kit really spoke to me.

Azzari Jarrett | Open Story Theme

This time last year, I was still getting used to my new city and my new home. I wanted to document the ways that I could open up. And for me, that meant opening up to a slower pace of life, new people and experiences, making time for what's important, and opening up honestly to my girls.

I used peach card stock to match with the wall in my photo, and printed the word "Open" at the top.  Everything else is from Ali's "Up"kit.  I tried to link the kit, but unfortunately I think it's too old now!

I am using a We R Memory Keepers 8.5x11 Classic Leather Album to hold all of my story layouts.  I slipped the completed layout in a  8x5 x 11 inch page protector.

See you in the classroom!

Numbers Story Theme

I still love working on story theme layouts using Ali Edwards' theme kits.  I enjoy the monthly prompts to document my story as opposed to documenting our family story which I do with my Project Life spreads.

Azzari Jarrett | Numbers Story Theme

January's theme was numbers, and there was so much goodness included in the kit.  Honestly, I completed 4 layouts with the kit!  So many stories to tell.  And as a math minor in college, and a Type A personality, you can be assured that I thrive on numbers!

For the layout I'm sharing today, I printed a 2.5 x 11 inch copy of my photobooth strip from the Ace Hotel during my trip to Portland.

Azzari Jarrett | Numbers Story Theme

I included the "numbers" piece with a list of numbers that make up my life. I love adding things that are true for me right now.  I know they will change in the future. I added a additional piece of washi tape to the right side of my layout and stamped the date at the bottom.

Here's how it looks in my album.

2017 Project Life Plans + Title Page

It's been quite a while since my last post!

My family and I have picked up and moved to the North Carolina coast - much, much more on this in a later post!  Needless to say, my documenting took a back seat to pretty much everything else in my life - selling our home, finding a new home, and getting my girls settled in a new environment.

Even though I am not finished with my 2016 album, I have decided to start fresh and new and catch up as time permits.  No stress, no guilt, am I right?

This year, I am going back to documenting with a 12x12 album. I will be using two of the Sweet Edition Albums and mostly Design A pocket pages, with a few others mixed in as well.  I really loved documenting with my 9x12 album last year, and it provided me with the creative change I needed.  But I found that I missed the familiarity of of my 12x12 layouts.  Plus, I have so much in my stash right now, it feels good to use what I have.

For my title page this year, I included a few of my favorite pictures of my girls and one that my husband captured of us running on the beach.  I designed the "2017" 3x4 cards myself, something that I'd like to do more of this year.  And the "New Year, New Chances" card is from LifeLovePaper included in Studio Calico's Roman Holiday Documenter Kit.

And just for fun, here are my past title pages:

It feels good to be back sharing again in this space, more soon.

April Project Life

April 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

We are almost at the half point of 2016, and I continue to love the 9x12 inch format.  I am still altering my current page protectors to 9x12 inches using the fuse tool, and it is really working out for me.  I'm thinking of during a short tutorial on this since I get so many questions about how to use it.

Here are a few of my project life pages from April.

April 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

Easter week was a quiet one for us.  It rained so we mostly stayed inside and dyed eggs.  Of course, I can't help but capture the beautiful blooms on our table - I loved this one so much that I printed it at 9x12 inches. I find that sometimes the bigger pictures tell the story.  I used journal cards from the Southern Weddings Edition Core Kit for this spread.

April 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

In April, My husband and I also made a very quick trip to London for a family wedding.  The actual ceremony was in Worcester, in the West Midlands of England.  We stayed in the most beautiful bed and breakfast in the English countryside, and then took the train back to London for the day.

For this spread, I printed a 9x12 inch print of the London Eye, which I took with my iPhone, and I was definitely surprised that the quality was so good.  This was such a great trip! More pictures to come soon.

Once again, I used journal cards from the Southern Weddings Edition Core Kit for this layout. I kind of like using journal cards for a different purpose than what they are intended for.  Although this kit is designed for weddings, there are definitely a number of cards that can be used "everyday" layouts such as these.

April 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

And for this last spread, I used journal cards from the Currently Edition Core Kit.  I had the pleasure of photographing my niece's first prom - such a special day.

Additional Products Used: Design C Page Protector, Design F Page Protector, 12 x 12 Page Protector (all adjusted to 9x12 with the fuse tool), Epson Premium Photo Paper in semi-gloss, Project Life Date Stamp.

I'm slowing beginning to work on May layouts, and I will share those soon!
