April Project Life

April 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

We are almost at the half point of 2016, and I continue to love the 9x12 inch format.  I am still altering my current page protectors to 9x12 inches using the fuse tool, and it is really working out for me.  I'm thinking of during a short tutorial on this since I get so many questions about how to use it.

Here are a few of my project life pages from April.

April 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

Easter week was a quiet one for us.  It rained so we mostly stayed inside and dyed eggs.  Of course, I can't help but capture the beautiful blooms on our table - I loved this one so much that I printed it at 9x12 inches. I find that sometimes the bigger pictures tell the story.  I used journal cards from the Southern Weddings Edition Core Kit for this spread.

In April, My husband and I also made a very quick trip to London for a family wedding.  The actual ceremony was in Worcester, in the West Midlands of England.  We stayed in the most beautiful bed and breakfast in the English countryside, and then took the train back to London for the day.

For this spread, I printed a 9x12 inch print of the London Eye, which I took with my iPhone, and I was definitely surprised that the quality was so good.  This was such a great trip! More pictures to come soon.

Once again, I used journal cards from the Southern Weddings Edition Core Kit for this layout. I kind of like using journal cards for a different purpose than what they are intended for.  Although this kit is designed for weddings, there are definitely a number of cards that can be used "everyday" layouts such as these.

And for this last spread, I used journal cards from the Currently Edition Core Kit.  I had the pleasure of photographing my niece's first prom - such a special day.

Additional Products Used: Design C Page Protector, Design F Page Protector, 12 x 12 Page Protector (all adjusted to 9x12 with the fuse tool), Epson Premium Photo Paper in semi-gloss, Project Life Date Stamp.

I'm slowing beginning to work on May layouts, and I will share those soon!

March Project Life

I can't believe it's been a month since I have last posted!

The end of March and the beginning of April were super busy for me.  I have so much to share with you, starting with some of my Project Life layouts for March.

March 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

I usually don't devote an entire spread to one day, but this day stood out for me.  Spring in Atlanta can be tough with all of the pollen in the air, but these wisteria blooms by the water made me forget all of my worries.

And as you can imagine, more photos from this day coming soon!

If you have followed my work for a while, you know that I love black and white in my spreads.  This layout definitely pushed my boundaries, but I love the pops of red.

March 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

This layout is special to me since I included a selfie I took with my mom this week.  She lives in Louisiana, so any chance I get to see her is a so special to me.  We are spending more and more time outside these days, so I love seeing that captured in my layouts.

I am currently working on my April layouts, I can't wait to share those with you soon!

Project Life - February Layouts

Switching to 9 x 12 inch layouts has really been working well for me.  I don't think I'm saving much on space, as the length of my binder is still a full 12 inches.  The game changer for me is that I think differently about how I organize my layouts.  And I realize that 9 x 12 inch full size photos look just as good and have the same impact as a 12x12 inch full size photo!

Here are two spreads from February.

February 2016 Project Life Layouts | Azzari Jarrett

Once again, I am not buying any new page protectors this year.  In these layouts, I am using Design A from my stash and the fuse tool to adjust the page protectors to 9 x 12 inches.  A few people have asked me on Instagram if I have had any trouble with the fuse tool.  I've found that you have to let the fuse tool get nice and hot by waiting about 10-15 minutes before you use it. Any sooner and you might not get a clean edge.

In February, I bought a sketch book and devoted the entire week to doodling and exploring more with watercolors and other mixed media.  Lisa Congdon's sketchbook classes were so very inspiring.  It was definitely good to explore and be creative with my hands.  I used journal cards from the Wander Core Kit to document this layout - with a full size capture of my paintbrushes on the right.

I was inspired by all of the pink blooms popping up for this week's spread! Light pink and green journal cards from the Everyday Edition Core Kit where perfect for this layout. And once again, loving full size photos at 9 x 12 inches.

A few more February layouts here, if you are interested.

Looking forward to documenting March!

February Layouts with Paislee Press

To say that I have enjoyed my time on the Paislee Press Creative Team is an understatement.  I was honored when Liz selected me to be on her team last year - my very first creative team.  I have created some of my most favorite Project Life layouts with Paislee Press designs.  I love Liz's minimalist style and her photo templates pair so perfectly with my photos.

Here are my last three layouts for the Paislee Press Creative Team.  And no worries, I plan to keep posting updates of my project life layouts and you will definitely see Paislee Press products popping up in my layouts here and there - I just love them so much!

Project Life - January Layouts

January 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

I continue to be amazed at how much I love this creative outlet.  Switching to 9x12 is working well for me. It is just enough of a change to keep things fresh and new.

Here are a few layouts from January.

January 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

I documented my birthday week with the digital version of Moments Like These and the Love Story Edition.  I added my journaling in Photoshop before printing out at home.  I print on 4x6 Epson Semi-Gloss Premium Photo Paper, and I really love the quality.

January 2016 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

Once again, I used the fuse tool to adjust Design A page protectors to 9x12 inches. I kept the edges square for this layout, but I am constantly switching - just depends on how I feel when I'm putting together the layout!

Project Life 2016 | Azzari Jarrett

One of the things that I love about the fuse tool is that I can create custom pockets for my film. On the right, I adjusted a 6x12 Becky Higgins page protector into three custom size pockets. I love being able to make Project Life work for me! I used journal cards from the Everyday Edition Core Kit for the right side of the layout.  Also, added a bit of journaling directly on my photo using this white pen.

January 2016 6x8 Project Life | Azzari Jarrett

And finally, a layout from my personal Project Life Album that I'm completing this year.  This album is all about me, which I'm finding is more like a journal!  I used journal cards from the Everyday Edition Core KitEveryday Edition Chipboard Stickers, and the Project Life Date Stamp.

Project Life is a quick, easy, and simple form of documenting created by Becky Higgins.  You can find out more information on her website.

January Layouts with Paislee Press

I am loving the 9x12 inch format for 2016! Here are the first few January pages of my album using Paislee Press products.

January 2016 Title Page - Azzari Jarrett

You guys have seen this one before in my 2016 Project Life Plans + Title Page post.  Once again, I designed the "20" and "16" 4x6 filler cards.  My "I (still) shoot film" square flair badge is available at Scrapbook and More. I used two 3x4 journal cards from Liz's Mantras collection.  Two of my own photos round out the title page.

January Project Life Layout | Azzari Jarrett

I am still committed to including film in my layouts! Here, I simply used Scotch Double Sided Adhesive Roller to attach mini Instax film photos to Mantras journal cards. Especially loving the Mantras photo templates and wordart - I layered it with a darker photo and changed the text to white in Photoshop. Also used in this layout: 2016 Calendar Journal Cards, about us journal cards, eternal sunshine journal cards, and press cards no 32.

January 2016 Project Life Layout 9x12 | Azzari Jarrett

And a full page (9x12 inch) layout with the Goes with Everything Papers. You can never go wrong with black and white stripes - always a classic.  Once again, I used Scotch Double Sided Adhesive Roller to attach 3 mini Instax film photos of a recent birthday party that my daughter attended.  "Love you" word art is from the my tribe elements pack.

So far, the 9x12 inch size is really working for me. I am loving the simple change and how it is forcing me to think about my layouts a bit differently.  I will share a few more completed layouts from January soon!

2016 Project Life Plans + Title Page

With a new year comes a fresh start to Project Life!  Once again, I am drawn to the tangible aspect of combining my photography with words.  I am looking forward to documenting our lives once again this year.

The biggest change this year is that I am switching to a 9x12 inch format.  This change is mainly to keep this creative outlet fresh and and evolving for me.  I am using a Studio Calico Gold Classic 9x12 Leather Album this year.

Here is a look at my 2016 Title Page:

2016 Project Life Title Page 9x12 | Azzari Jarrett

I designed the "20" and "16" 4x6 filler cards.  I simply trimmed them down to 3x4 to fit in the pockets. Loving the "I (still) shoot film" square flair badge I designed last year.  It is available at Scrapbook and More. I also used two 3x4 journal cards from Liz's Mantras collection - these are perfect for the new year.  Two of my own photos round out the page, with a black and white badge from a past Studio Calico kit (not 100% sure on which one!)

I plan to continue to leave my album out in my studio so that I can work on it when I have the time.  I am also sticking with a weekly format - however, I am not restricting myself to traditional 7 day weeks. I will adjust and break up weeks as it makes sense when documenting our stories.

And as always, I will continue to strive to combine my film photography in my layouts.

Project Life Fuse Tool | Azzari Jarrett

I have so many 12x12 page protectors that I'm not buying any new page protectors this year.  My plan is use my Fuse Tool to adjust my current page protectors as necessary.

6x8 album | Azzari Jarrett

And one of the things that I am looking forward to the most is that I am doing a "personal" album this year. No rules or restrictions, whatsoever.  I will document what I want, when I want, and there will be no guilt associated with "falling behind" or missing something, etc. I plan to capture things about myself that doesn't normally make my regular album - what I'm reading, drinking, listening to, etc.

For this album, I am using a Midnight 6x8 Becky Higgins album.  I used a little gold + acrylic paint and Heidi Swapp silk screens for the "Love" full page and peony on the bottom left corner. I cut out the "a" from a Crate and Barrel bag from a recent purchase.  The "Bring It 2016" card is from the Lollipop Guild Documenter Kit.

As you can see, I plan to explore a lot more creatively with this album - using a number of mixed media techniques and including lots of ephemera from my life.

I'm excited about this plan and the possibilities for this year.  There are just enough things staying the same, and a good bit of change to keep me challenged creatively.
