Greece | Expired Polaroid 600 Film

Greece on Expired Polaroid 600 Film | Azzari Jarrett

Sharing more of my film images from Greece today.

As you can tell, my Polaroid 600 film was definitely expired!  I had a bit more luck with my polaroids from earlier this year

I completely lost a pack (no pictures developed on the film), but I was able to salvage a few.  When shooting with film, this is always to be expected.  You never quite know what you will get!

The above image is the Erechtheion, an ancient Greek temple on the north side of the Acropolis.

I love how these turned out.  I'm embracing the imperfections and really looking deeper into the saturated, muted colors.  Capturing the Acropolis on polaroid 600 film was really important to me.  I love how 'aged' each captured moment looks - even though these were taken on bright, sunny days in Athens and Crete.

Good Morning Crete

Crete, Greece | photo by Azzari Jarrett

We spent two days wonderful days in Athens before heading to the Greek Island of Crete.  Crete, located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, is the largest of the Greek islands.  It was an easy 30 minute flight from Athens, and we traveled at night, so we were not able to see very much on our arrival.

I was up at 5AM that first morning, ready to see the sun rise.  It was a quite morning with my camera by the sea.

And oh what a beautiful sight.  I will never forget how warm the sun felt and how blue the sea was.

Through these film images, I hope that I was able to capture what I felt that day.  That is what is most important to me - not the image itself, but the feeling of this specific moment in time.

Oh Crete, you are so beautiful.

And a behind the scenes look at me capturing these photos, taken by my husband.

I have more images to share, very soon.

I have been having a love affair with fonts lately.  Mini confession: I have been known to spend money on fonts before a new outfit.  The designer in me can't help it!

I have been tinkering with my own fonts for a while now.  I played around with these images that I took in Napa Vally and San Francisco in February of 2012.  Quite fun to see my handwriting on these images!

Thought I'd share with you.   Introducing Coffee Shop, a simple truetype font of my handwriting.  Named as such, simply because I created this in -  you guessed it - a coffee shop.

Download Coffee Shop, free for personal use.  If you decide to use it on your own images (or anything else), please share the results - I'd love to see it!

Have a great weekend.

a coffee break

Film. Fuji Superia 400.

We spent the end of the week in San Francisco.  So much walking during the day to take in all the sites!

Four Barrel Coffee was a welcome break.  My mocha was perfect - and the entire space was like a coffe lover's dream.

It was also in San Francisco that I happened upon a great deal on a Hasselblad 500 c/m medium format camera.  A peak at my first photograph.  I have always wanted to try medium format photography - I've been going back and forth on whether to upgrade my digital (it's just been put on hold for a while!).

More to share soon.
