Sketchbook Explorations
I recently enrolled in the Sketchbook Exploration series of classes by Lisa Congdon. There is something about creating with my hands that fulfills me so much! Super simple supplies here - a set of artist brush pens, a Micron black pen, and a white gel pen.
I wanted to share a couple of pages of my favorite illustrations.
I actually used this illustration as the cover page for my personal 6x8 project life album (scroll down to see the cover).
Definitely still learning here, my lines are shaky.... These flower illustrations are drawn over scrapes of paper from my stash that I cut and adhered with craft bond glue.
And of course, I had to include a little watercolor as well.
My first time actually drawing over watercolor. I like how it adds another dimension to the circles.
At the beginning of this year, I mentioned how I wanted to get creative with my personal album and use a number of mixed media techniques and ephemera from my life. With that in mind, I ended up scanning the first illustration above and cropping to 6x8 inches to include as the title page - love how this turned out.
Don't be afraid to incorporate bits and pieces of your drawings, sketches, or anything else that you create in your journals or albums. In twenty years, you'll look back and I'm sure you will be so glad that you did.
