Hasselblad 500c | Fuji FP-3000B Film | Azzari Jarrett

A few recent captures around the house with my Hasselblad and Fuji Fp-3000B film.

Here are a few of my current thoughts and inspirations this month.

  • Honored by your response to my previous Photo Life post on Digital vs. Film - I think we all agree that both sets of images are beautiful, but there is something about film that is hard to replicate.
  • Struggling with the fact that some of my favorite film has been discontinued (Fuji Fp-100c and Fuji Fp-3000b).  I am really trying to wrap my head around how selective I will have to be when reaching for one of my film cameras.
  • Loving the new project life instax products. I can't wait to create an entire album full of instax photos.
  • I wrote a guest post last month on Becky Higgins' blog. I shared some of my thoughts on fostering love between your children.  I really poured my heart into that one, I hope you can relate.
  • I am definitely looking forward to summer break and having some uninterrupted time with my girls.
  • So inspired by Leslie's film images.
  • Loving this project life layout by Kari - love her clean, simple style.
  • Kirstin's tips for using a selfie stick for overhead shots is simply genius.

I'd love to know what you have been enjoying this month, please do share.

The morning light this winter has been beautiful.  Capturing it on film has been even better.

Here are a few more things I am currently enjoying this month.

  • Staci Lee Kennelly's The Hours post. I could absolutely live in her film photographs.
  • Kodak's CEO, Jeff Clarke, is on a mission to bring film back and his business card is a strip of 35mm film with his information displayed.  Where can I get one?
  • Love all of the January Project Life inspiration included on Becky's blog - it's great to be a part of this team.
  • So glad that many of you are enjoying the January Sale going on in my shop!  Use code HELLOJANUARY to enjoy 25% off through the end of the month.
  • I continue to enjoy podcasts, and the Strangers Holiday Special 2015 really struck a cord with me. The stories of Henry and Jane and Lyena Strelkoff were absolutely moving. Stop and go listen now.
  • Running in the cold weather.  Yesterday, I completed my second half marathon along with my husband.  I have been training for months, and it felt so good to cross that finish line!

Please do share in the comments what you are enjoying this month, I would love to know.

Hasselblad, Fuji FP100c | Azzari Jarrett

I can't believe it is the middle of December, already.

Our days are filled with winter recitals and performances, holiday parties, and end of the year activities.  As much as I love this time of the year, I know it is essential to carve out quiet time for myself.  All it really takes is simply picking up a camera (any one that is loaded with film), quietly composing the image, and pressing the shutter.  Goodness, indeed.

Here are a few things I have been enjoying this month.

Loving Kirstin's 5 tips for winter mobile photography. Equally mesmerized by her film images from Santorini, Greece.

Inspired by Andrea's progress on her December Daily album.  I am currently working on my own album, and I'm planning on sharing an update soon.

Sad that the iconic holga film camera is now dead.

Excited to try some of Ashley's techniques for including photos and artistic backgrounds in her traveler's notebook.

Sharing 3 ways to creatively store your instant film photos over at Viewfinders last week.  I always love when I am invited to guest post there.

Stumbled on this article, and I couldn't agree more with #4 and #7.

Atlanta, Georgia | Impossible Color Film | Polaroid | Azzari Jarrett

Atlanta, Georgia from the Jackson Street BridgeImpossible Color Polaroid Film

We are settling nicely into our Fall schedule around here.  Grabbing extra blankets at night, and enjoying an extra cup of coffee in the morning.

Here are a few things that I am currently enjoying:

Venturing out with my camera more and more.  Sometimes I get so content taking photos around my home that I forget there is so much photo goodness around me.  Case in point - the photo above of the Atlanta Skyline.

Loving this layout by Kari - film + documenting will always have my heart.

Inspired by Andrea and Joyce's collaboration, Atlanta + Amsterdam - two cities through the lenses of two polaroid SX-70 cameras over twelve weeks. This is one of my favorites so far.

Just finished reading Elizabeth Gilbert's Big Magic and I can't say enough good things about this book.  I don't remember the last time I wrote in the margins of a book - taking notes and underlining.  I love the way Elizabeth has broken down creativity and inspiration.  My thoughts on this definitely deserve a separate post.  One of the (many) lines that I love - "Whatever it is that you are pursuing, whatever it is you are seeking, whatever it is you are creating, be careful not to quit too soon." Go, read this book now.

Blown away by Jade and Cory's black and white instant film captures of London

Admiring Cindy's custom traveler's notebooks - and thinking I might want to try this out soon.

August In the Garden | Azzari Jarrett

Eating cherry tomatoes from my garden at least twice a week.  If you look closely at the second picture above, you can see a cucumber as well!  There's something about cherry tomatoes and summer that go hand and hand for me.

Inspired by Brian Chesky's post, 7 rejections.  He shares a few of the rejection letters from five potential early investors to Airbnb (he didn't hear back from the other two).  A reminder that not everyone will see the greatness in what you do, but it doesn't mean you should quit.

Brainstorming ways to make the transition to school a bit easier for my 5 year old daughter.  Kindergarten days are long and new schools take a while to get used to.

Amazed by the beauty of these film photographs.  Photographer Meagan Abell found a box of vintage film negatives in a thrift shop in Richmond, Viriginia. She has launched a campaign to find the photographer and the models in the photographs.  And it looks like she may be close to finding her answers.

Listening to my new favorite podcast - Magic Lessons by Elizabeth Gilbert.  She seeks to create "road maps for the path to creativity, the extra nudge you need when you're feeling stuck." If you are a creative person, you will find so many words of wisdom in these episodes.

Sad to hear that CVS has officially stopped developing film.

Discovered the blog of Staci Lee Kennelly, a life developing, and lost of few hours looking at her photographs.

I've never tried 8x10 polaroids, but these portraits definitely have me intrigued.

Soaking up this last month of summer before my girls head off to school.

Catching up on project life, and it feels good! I love documenting our days, but most importantly, getting those photos printed.

Enjoying all of the tomatoes we are getting this summer from the garden.

Inspired by the film photography of Chinwe Edeani.

Realizing that the humidity this summer is too much for me, and moving my morning run indoors (via the treadmill).

Finding that I prefer Pinterest on my iPhone rather than my desktop.  I'm overloaded with so many photos displayed on desktop versus three or four at a time on my iPhone.

Planning a shop update for next week, be sure to sign up for my newsletter for a special discount for subscribers.

Summer is in full swing around here, and I am loving this break from our normal schedule.

A few things that I am currently loving this month:

Taking advantage of the extra sunlight that comes with these long summer days - early morning coffee on the patio and late evening trips to the pool.

Honored for this quick feature on Apartment Therapy

Prepping for Ali Edward's upcoming Week In The Life later this summer.  I plan on sharing a few of my spreads from 2014 and 2013 soon.

Happy that I am picking up my camera more and more these days.

Laughed out loud when I read this - 10 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings.

Emerged myself in Victoria Will's work - she photographed celebrities at Sundace on film.  See her amazing photos here.

Loving how my baby girl only wants to wear long sun dresses these days.

Looking forward to a summer vacation.  Picking which cameras I will bring is proving to be harder than I thought.

Enjoying here and now, and trying not to wish away my days.

I find it amazing that it's already the last week in April.  Here's what I have been enjoying this month:

Devoured the burger above, complete with sweet potato fries.

Inspired by this interview with Laura Pritchett.

Love how Nicole used the Paislee Press trading card templates for documenting a day in the life.

You are so much more than your portfolio  - a good reminder from Molly Jacques.

Tried this method with my daughters for a simple way not to interrupt and it totally worked.

Feeling everything Brandi is expressing in this post - it's all part of the creative process. Make more.

Subscribed to the Skimm and I'm loving the simple breakdown of news into conversational topics such as "What to say at a family dinner".

Shipping On The Table, Volume 2 and so excited to finally see these film images in print.
